In the energy sector, they monitor the sag of high-voltage power lines or the level of fuels in tanks. Agricultural machinery uses them for automated steering and implement control, while the construction industry relies on them for machine guidance and volume measurement.

Selecting the right industrial-grade rangefinder requires a careful analysis of the specific application's needs. Key parameters to consider include measurement range, accuracy, repeatability, response time, and the environmental conditions of the installation site. The required beam type—a precise point, a line, or a wide field—also influences the choice.
